Individual therapy
Individual therapy is a collaborative, one-to-one process focused on understanding your experiences, strengthening your psychological capacity, and supporting meaningful change.
In sessions, we work together to explore the patterns that may be contributing to distress. Whether that involves anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, life transitions, identity concerns, relationship challenges or more. Therapy provides a structured and confidential space to slow things down, reflect with intention, and make sense of what may feel overwhelming or confusing.
Individual therapy can help you:
Develop insight into thoughts, emotions and behavioural patterns
Build practical coping strategies for anxiety, stress and low mood
Increase emotional regulation and resilience
Strengthen self-understanding and self-trust
Clarify values and make decisions aligned with what matters most to you
Improve relationships and communication skills
The process is tailored to your goals, pace and circumstances. Some clients seek short-term, solution-focused support; others engage in deeper exploratory work aimed at long-term growth and sustained change.
At its core, individual therapy is about building the internal skills and awareness needed not just to manage difficulties, but to move forward with greater clarity, stability and psychological flexibility.
Our rates
Psychological therapy
Sessions are typically held weekly or fortnightly, depending on your goals, clinical needs, and availability. The frequency can be adjusted to suit your theraputic need or as progress is made over time.
Duration: 50-60 mins | $138.97 per session
Medicare Rebate
The standard session fee is $138.97 per appointment. With a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, the current Medicare rebate results in an approximate out-of-pocket cost of $40 per session.
Under the Better Access initiative, Medicare provides rebates for up to 10 individual therapy sessions per calendar year. An initial referral typically covers up to 6 sessions. After these sessions, your GP will review your progress and may provide a further referral for the remaining sessions (up to a total of 10 per calendar year).
The full fee of $138.97 is significantly below th recommended rate for psychological services (currently $318 per session). This is intentional. At Panaah, we believe mental health care should be accessible and sustainable, not a luxury. Our fee structure reflects a commitment to reducing financial barriers while continuing to provide high-quality, evidence-based care.
If you are unsure about your eligibility or have questions about the referral process, you are welcome to get in touch for further information.
Cancellation Policy
Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. To ensure fairness and availability for all clients, the following cancellation policy applies:
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the full session fee.
Non-attendance (missed appointments without notice) will also incur the full session fee.
Please note that Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for cancelled or missed appointments.
Late cancellations and non-attendances reduce the opportunity for other clients to access care and impact the sustainability of the practice. This policy supports respectful use of appointment times and continuity of care.
If unexpected or emergency circumstances arise, please make contact as soon as possible to discuss your situation.
